Creekside Kayak Tour
On August 10th, Riverside Kayak Connection hosted a kayak tour along the Detroit River highlighting the neighborhood’s parks and canals. The tour began at Maheras Gentry Park with nearly 20 eager paddlers from all over metro Detroit.

We then continued up the river before entering the canals by Grayhaven. The tour guide shared neighborhood history with the tour group along the route.

The tour continued up the river past A.B. Ford Park before entering the canals surrounding Harbor Island. Many residents were outside waving to the group as we passed.

Paddlers then returned to Maheras Gentry Park at dusk with hazy views of the downtown Detroit skyline in the distance. Check out Creekside’s Facebook page for more photos.

Riverside Kayak Connection has hosted multiple tours this summer with proceeds supporting both Creekside and the Detroit Eastside Community Collaborative (DECC). To register for the final tour on September 18th from 10:00am – 2:00pm, contact Riverside Kayak Connection at (734) 285 – 2925. The tour is $35 per paddler.
